can someone please explain this whole IPhone on verizon thing?
I'm totally lost and confused any information would be appreciated
but, mostly if I were to buy an iphone off Ebay (new or used) before verizon sells the IPhone would I be able to use it without doing anything illegal or that would get me in any kind of trouble
Thanks!

The iPhone is a GSM phone. Verizon is a CDMA network. You cannot use a GSM phone on a CDMA network. You canot hack a GSM phone to work on a GSM network. A GSM phone does not work on a CDMA network.
One other thing – Verizon ONLY allows Verizon-branded phones on its network. Even if you could technologically use the phone on a CDMA network, Verizon would not allow it to be activated because the iPhone is not a Verizon-branded phone.

No. when verizon sells the iPhone it will be made differently. You’ll notice theres a slot for a sim card in most other service providers phones, and verizon doesnt have that. Its going to be set up for a CDMA network when they sell it.
